This morning we packed up and checked out of the hotel because it was going home day. It was pouring rain, so we weren’t able to follow through with our original plans for the day, which were to explore Stanley Park. Instead, we drove to the Vancouver Aquarium, which is actually inside the park, and made use of the free passes we’d received at dinner the night before.

We spent the entire morning in the aquarium, visiting the belugas and watching the 4D movie about ancient sea life. They also had an interesting display about the debris that was still washing up on Vancouver beaches from the 2011 tsumani in Japan. We had lunch in the aquarium cafeteria and then, seeing the weather starting to clear, we decided to walk the sea wall around the perimeter of the park.

We hit the major points of interest, including the totem poles and the girl in a wetsuit statue.

We also spent quite a bit of time beachcombing for sea glass (and finding lots).

When we got back to the aquarium, we had just enough time to watch a dolphin show before leaving for the airport, dropping off our rental car, and checking in for our flight home.
